La Dolce Vita

I'm MOVING! (Diaries, that is). I might continue posting here for a little while, but after almost four years here at diaryland I wanted to try something new. Please check it out at greatestjournal.

We participated in the Terry Fox Run a couple of weeks ago. It was well-organized, although they did run out of number “bibs” due to the unexpectedly large turnout: more than 2,200 people. It was very hot and sunny, but Sebastian didn’t complain once. For that matter, neither did Kat and she doesn’t really like walking. We spotted about a dozen babies, but we were the only ones not using a stroller. We were among the last to finish.

Two days later the school had a cross country championship. “Championship” is a bit of a misnomer, as a large number of the students simply walked the 2 km course. As one of the “whips,” it was my job to encourage the kids bringing up the rear to hurry the hell up. Although I’ve always hated running, it was frustrating wanting to jog the course and being held back by these lazy kids who complained about the heat after less than 100 meters.

And two days after that I played a bit of football, as I usually do on Thursdays. I felt sluggish on the field and felt like I played very poorly, but I scored the final goal. A bit of a fluke, but I’ll take it. A week later I played better, but didn’t score.

On the 30th (one week ago already!) we had a party to celebrate my saint day. We had about 30 guests. Kat really outdid herself as we had a selection of delicious salads, BBQ and huge shrimps.
